Organizational setup and ownership

ICU is an Illinois-based, limited liability company owned by Mike Bawden and Robert Meyer Burnett.

Mr. Bawden serves as the managing member of the venture, overseeing day-to-day business matters, rights acquisition, and marketing of the venture’s various projects.

Mr. Burnett is primarily responsible for evaluating intellectual property (IP) for development, forming production teams responsible for bringing that licensed IP to market, and supervising the overall creative quality of everything produced and distributed by ICU, its distribution networks, and business partners.

Partner Biographies

Robert Meyer Burnett

Creative Director/Partner

Beginning his career in the summer of 1989 as the Art Department Production Assistant on New Line Cinema’s LEATHERFACE: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Robert Meyer Burnett has weathered 36 years in the Entertainment Industry. He’s probably best known for directing, co-writing and editing the award-winning cult favorite FREE ENTERPRISE, starring Emmy winners Eric McCormack and William Shatner.

As a filmmaker, he developed and produced MGM’s AGENT CODY BANKS and its sequel, AGENT CODY BANKS 2: DESTINATION LONDON, Warner Premiere and Dark Castle Entertainment’s THE HILLS RUN RED, and the upcoming WHITE DEVILS. The recent FORBIDDEN TANGO, currently streaming on a multitude of platforms, which he both produced and edited, was actually blessed by Pope Francis back in 2021.  Quoted in the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, Francis said, “I was pleased to learn of the film…which is intended to foster the values of fraternal solidarity and peace on a global level. It is my hope that this effort will serve the common good of the human family by furthering a spirit of mutual dialogue and respect for all persons. Upon all involved in the production of the film, I invoke abundant divine blessings.”

Burnett also directed and edited five episodes of HBO/Cinemax’s pulp anthology series FEMME FATALES. He also specialized in editing and post supervising numerous micro-budget features by first time directors.

For twenty years, Burnett also produced award-winning content for DVD and Blu Ray special editions. Working for all the major studios, Burnett created documentary features for such notable titles as THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SPIDER-MAN, TRON, X-MEN, X2, THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, THE TWO TOWERS, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, SUPERMAN RETURNS, SHOOT ‘EM UP, STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, and the two-time Saturn Award-winning Blu-ray restoration of the complete STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION series.

Since 2015, Burnett has continued to appear as an expert Industry pundit on many entertainment-related YouTube channels. In 2018, he started his own channel, The Burnettwork, the home of the Imagination Connoisseurs of the Post-Geek Singularity, which currently has over 65,000 subscribers and almost 12 million views.

Mike Bawden

Managing Partner

Mike Bawden is a writer/producer living in the Midwest. He has over 30 years’ experience in advertising, marketing, and public relations – working with clients in a variety of business sectors throughout the US and globally. In 2000, he facilitated the creation of the ECCO International Public Relations Network and entered into an international business partnership with firms located in forty countries around the world. In the 2000s, he started working with creators and filmmakers to produce a variety of pulp/action stories, comic books, and video content focused on the sci-fi, horror, and fantasy genres.

In December of 2019, Bawden entered into a partnership with legendary comic book cover artist, Dave Dorman, to publish the first issue of the pulp magazine “Amazing Tales of the Wasted Lands.” Bawden wrote the stories in the issue which were intended to form the foundation for a larger IP “universe” known as Dave Dorman’s Wasted Lands.

Then, in August of 2020, Bawden and co-producer Robert Meyer Burnett (“Free Enterprise” and “The Hills Run Red”) formalized their collaboration on Burnett’s streaming show “Robservations” by turning it into an online venture they dubbed The Burnettwork. In 2023, their collaboration advanced to the formation of a production company called Imagination Connoisseurs Unlimited, LLC (ICU).

Bawden serves as the Managing Partner of ICU, responsible for acquiring intellectual properties and developing business plans for each property. This allows for the ongoing development of creative “franchises” that will benefit ICU, the IP creator, and investors over the long term.
